Abstract


THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND JOB PERFORMANCE AND DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES: A RESEARCH IN MERSIN

This study has been carried out with the purpose of contributing to related literature and practices in the business life via identifying the impact of the level of emotional intelligence of employees on job performance; additionally, examining the impact of demographic variables on both emotional intelligence level and employees’ job performance. In this sense, two different scales that “Emotional Intelligence” and “Job Performance” have been utilized in total. From this point of view, the data has been collected through the questionnaire by involving 300 participants; the data obtained has been analyzed by the “SPSS 25.0” program. In this context, Pearson Correlation Analysis has been used for examining whether there was a significance between emotional intelligence and job performance or not; Independent Samples T-Test and One-Way ANOVA Test have been used for identifying the relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance and demographic variables. As a result of the analysis, it has been seen that there was a statistically significant difference between emotional intelligence and job performance. In terms of examining the demographic variables, the results have shown that, on one hand, there was a statistically significant difference between the educational status and emotional intelligence and job performance, on the other hand, there was no statistically difference between variables that age, gender, marital status and emotional intelligence and job performance.
