Abstract


IN THE CONTEXT OF OLD AGE TAŞLICALI YAHYA BEY'S OLD AGE GHAZAL

Aging is a stage with biological, chronological, psychological and sociological dimensions that the individual experiences after infancy, childhood, youth and adulthood in the life cycle. This stage occurs over time without accident and injury. Man changes in physical and spiritual terms. Those who experience this phase, which is also met with terms such as aging and old age, face death. Old age is also an inspiration for poets. In the works, it is seen that especially the changes in the human body, such as the loss of the old movement of the person, the lack of joy in life, the approaching to death, occur with aging. XVI. century poet Taşlıcalı Yahya Bey penned on the subject of old age, an interesting example of this situation. In this ghazel, the poet has dealt with the biological aspects of old age and expressed the changes in his body depending on time in relation to the thought of death. In addition, it is seen that old age is evaluated in terms of its relation to wisdom and experience as in ancient cultures. In this study, it will be examined in terms of the ghazal shape and content features of Taşlıcalı Yahya Bey.
