The negative attitudes of Noah's son who named Yam, and Abraham's father who was mentioned in the Qur'an as Âzer, against the doctrine of prophethood are remarkable. Both the prophets' responses to the negative attitudes exhibited, the styles they preferred for correction, the manner of conduct they applied, have important elements that shape the family understanding in Islam. There is no doubt that a good analysis of these elements will yield very serious data on the value of family and kinship, in terms of the life of the world and the hereafter. For this reason, in this study, some sections of the lives of Noah and Abraham were especially preferred because they contain elements that summarize the relations in the father-son equation; it has been tried to present solutions to the problem of how family relations should be in case of religious differences.
