Abstract

SINGLE PARENTAL FAMILY CHILDREN AFTER DIVORCE: PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS’ VIEWS

The purpose of this study is to examine the opinions of preschool teachers, who are divorced family children in their classrooms. The research was created with the basic qualitative research model, which is one of the qualitative research designs. The working group of the research consists of 64 preschool teachers working in Istanbul. As the data collection tool, a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used. As a result of the research, 3 themes emerged in line with the observations made by the teachers on the children with divorced families. These themes are "Behavioral Problems", "Psychological Problems" and "Social Problems". "Anger attacks", "aggressive behavior" and "crying" are the most common behavior problems. On the theme of the Psychological Problems, it was concluded that “introversion”, “reluctance” and “extreme emotionality” were the most frequently observed behaviors by teachers. In the theme of Social Problems, "problems in peer interaction" appeared intensely. In addition, the strategies developed by teachers include “Making Routine Interviews with Families”, “Directing the Family / Child to the Expert” and “Talking to the Child About the Situation” strategies.
