Abstract

EVALUATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TROYA WOOD AND CANAKKALE HORSE SHAPED CERAMICS

In this study, the relationship between the image of a wooden horse, which was claimed to be produced for the purpose of the Trojan War, and the horse image in the horse-shaped containers that started to be formed in the mid-19th century in traditional Çanakkale ceramics was investigated. The works and depictions of the horses working on the Trojan horse were inspired by inspiring the legend of the Trojan War, and it was given importance to watch the visuals of the works. In particular, the physical (typological) features of horse depictions in the works and the reasons for the creation of the horse image in traditional Çanakkale ceramics were investigated and their physical and functional features were evaluated. A field scan was made on the images and interpretations of Trojan horse and ceramic horse, the works in the museum collections were examined and the works of today's contemporary (ceramic) artists who made works within the scope of the subject were discussed in a way to create a source. Similarities of the riton forms used in ceremonies, especially the Hittite Civilization in Anatolia, and the traditional zoomorphic vessels of Çanakkale were evaluated and compared with the image of Troy. It is widely believed that the physical properties of the trojan horse and ceramic horse images and the concepts expressed by the objects used in the images are quite different, and that only the common point is the image of the horse, which is interpreted as an object.
