The concept of gender aims to define the different roles and behaviors of women and men in society. In non-homogeneous societies, gender experiences vary by ethnic differences, social class distinctions, and region to region. In addition, the reflections of gender differ in historical process and today, both by countries and by different regions and different sectors in a country on cultural traditions, religion factor, access to resources, layered labor market models and education. Today, in Turkey as a developing country, gender inequality in the employment of education sector is a big problem which maintains its importance. In this study we used the variables of gender equality and performed multidimensional scaling analysis according to Level 2 Statistical Classification of Territorial Units. We evaluated the results by using clustering of multivariate statistical methods to assess regional differences in Turkey. According to the results of this analysis, TR10 (İstanbul), TR51 (Ankara) and TRB1 (Malatya, Elâzığ, Bingöl, Tunceli) were found in the top cluster. The regions in the lowest cluster were TRA2 (Ağrı, Kars, Iğdır, Ardahan), TRB2 (Van, Muş, Bitlis, Hakkâri), TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis), TRC2 (Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır) and TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt). The remaining regions were in the middle cluster.
