The Relationship of Economic Discontent and Corruption: Evidence From Asean Countries

Inflation and unemployment, which have macro-scale effects, are seen as the source of deviations from equality in economies. The economic discontent index, which is the sum of inflation and unemployment rates and developed by Arthur Okun, provides information about the macroeconomic indicators and economic performance of countries. On the other hand, corruption, which means the use of public resources for private gain, deepens inequality by damaging the sense of social justice. Since corruption represents an informal process, detection and follow-up are difficult. In addition, Transparency International indexes the perception of corruption for countries in line with various public opinion surveys and expert opinions. The potential of the problem areas subject to both indices to determine and influence each other is the main interest of this study. In the study, the causality relationship between economic discontent and corruption in the member countries of the ASEAN community, which is at the top of the corruption perception index, was examined. Annual data for the 2003-2021 period were analyzed using the Emirmahmutoğlu and Köse (2011) panel causality test. According to the results of the analysis, a bidirectional causality relationship was found between economic discontent and corruption in ASEAN countries. Empirical findings show that economic discontent and corruption are mutually reinforcing phenomena. Getting out of this vicious circle will be possible with some structural arrangements. Implementing appropriate fiscal and monetary policies will prevent economic discontent from feeding corruption. Likewise, the implementation of institutional and legal regulations that will prevent corruption will ensure that the applied economic policies produce more efficient results.

An Essay on Rasim Özdenören’s Story “Conflict” Through Conflict Method

Conflict is one of the main elements of literary work. The conflict method, which is used to ensure that many literary works are immersive, to be remembered, to activate the reader’s sense of curiosity and to ensure their loyalty to the text, is the most prominent element in drawing the attention of the work. In this way, a more frequent connection occurs between the text and the reader, and a more carefully followed fiction emerges for the reader who identifies himself with the characters in the text.
Rasim Özdenören, one of the leading names in Turkish storytelling, used the concept of conflict, which we discussed in this study and which he chose as a name for his story, in many of his works. In this way, the author, who tries to strengthen many narrative methods, especially the element of curiosity in his stories, presented a good example of this in the story “Conflict”.
In the story of the four main characters; Different types and dimensions of conflict such as clash of ideas, conflict of tradition-modern, conflict of generation, physical conflict have been fictionalized.

Finance Methods Of Social Security and A Brief Overview Of Implementation In Turkey

It is a physiological and social necessity to be protected and safe in the face of various dangers brought by life. Throughout life, people are faced with some events or dangers such as illness, unemployment, marriage, birth, which sometimes cause a decrease or loss in their income, and sometimes make it necessary to make additional expenditures. While the protection needs against these life risks were traditionally met within the extended family structure, many reasons such as the industrialization process and the change in the family structure and the inadequacy of meeting the social security needs within the family necessitated the establishment of the social security system.
Social security, which is a universal right practiced in different ways around the world, also faces many problems. One of these problems is the problem of financing. There are three different methods of providing social security: social insurance, social assistance and social services. First of all, these methods, other than social insurance, are described as a premium-free system. For this reason, they are financed from the public budget or from privately allocated taxes and funds. Social insurance, on the other hand, is a premium system and the financing of the social security system will be examined through the premium system.
In our study, financing, which is one of the main problems of the social security system, is discussed. In this context, by examining the capitalization and distribution method regarding financing, an evaluation has been made about the financing methods applied in Turkey. Within the scope of the study, it was concluded that the mixed method, which was mainly applied in theory, could not achieve the desired success in practice.

Morality has been in the management of people since the day of existence of humanity and has been included in all discussion topics. It still maintains its vitality as a subject that cannot be united on this subject, which starts with morality, continues with ethics and needs, and which is also covered by business ethics discussion and commercial. With the industrial revolution, it lives more seriously in schools, it is a moral issue that is often neglected but never left out of the agenda. Ethics and business ethics, which are constantly researched in Europe and the USA, and which are tried to put a certain and standard norms into the mold, are still not at the desired levels. Until a few years ago in the past, it tried to work, gave every example of exit to the people of other countries who are morally forward, other nations almost pointed us in this regard. In particular, it has become famous in other societies as fair, just, hardworking, reliable, hospitable and as the servant of its guests. Ethics and business ethics, which started with the Ottomans in our country and developed with works such as customs, ahi order, guild and gedik, were often ignored, corrupted and used for interests by businesses. We see that our people have become lazier, they want to make money easily and quickly by avoiding working, nepotism comes to the fore instead of merit and license, and bribery is considered natural, so we see that they are among the countries with broken business ethics in other countries. The ambition of people and businesses to earn more money, keeping individual interests ahead of the interests of the business or society, businesses turning the competitive environment into a struggle for existence, insensitivity etc. Many different and negative behaviors against business ethics are encountered in the business world due to various reasons. Today, many associations, non-governmental organizations and universities have worked to improve business ethics. An effort has been made to further develop the business ethics norms set forth by the state by these institutions and organizations, and to apply them together in the interests of the societies. It has been seen that the current moral and business ethics norms in our country are behind the times, and all other stakeholders, especially government institutions, are working to make decisions on a common point. In this article; In this study, the studies carried out by non-governmental organizations, universities, associations and the state on morality, ethics and business ethics in our country were mentioned and suggestions were made about the studies that should be done in this regard. If the moral norms of the employees in the enterprises are tied to a certain standard, it has been concluded that both the productivity in the enterprises increase and the employees feel more secure, peaceful and happy.

Polyphonic Enterprises Between 17.-19. Centuries In Turkish Music

Polyphonic music stands out unlike the Harmony technique that matured in the Classical period. For example, while the Fugue forms in the Baroque period were horizontal polyphonic music written with the technique of counterpoint (melody versus melody); Especially developed and written symphonies in the classical period express a vertical polyphony in which harmony technique is used and cadence functions are prominent. Therefore, in this study, the concept of "polyphony" has been used to express polyphony, that is, a general polyphony (counterpoint, harmony, etc.) in Turkish, which corresponds to the etymology of the word. In this study, the movements that cause polyphonic searches in Turkish music to be observed are based on the processes in which they first started in the Ottoman Empire, and it has been revealed that especially the "Westernization movements" were effective on these searches. Based on this, it is understood that these processes started from the middle of the 17th century and reached a certain conclusion until the end of the 19th century. The search for polyphony in Turkish music with the Republic, different from the understanding that developed between the 17th and 19th centuries, many movements, forms and techniques (such as Impressionism, Atonalism, Progressive Harmony, Pentatonism in Folk Music, microtonal music, etc.) until the 21st century. It has turned into an intricate musical structure in which many understandings develop together. In this study, the works of Turkish music composers of different periods, especially from the Ottoman period, influenced by the polyphonic (polyphony) approaches formed by the influences of the 17th and 19th centuries are exemplified.

The relationship of the Turks with Arabic dates back to the period of the Karakhanids, when they began to learn it in order to understand the holy texts. In the following periods, the teaching of Arabic in madrasas continued by reading some of the main grammar (morphology and syntax) books. Today, besides madrasas, Arabic is taught in higher education institutions and in some private courses. In the modern period, many series have been written to teach Arabic to non-native speakers. In this study, we tried to evaluate two of the said series which called Abjad and Silsilatu'l-Lisan, in terms of the courses of morphology and syntax. Firstly, we revealed the main features of both series, their target audience, the goals they want to achieve and their methods. Then, we gave information about the teaching of morphology and syntax lessons in both series. While doing this, an evaluation was made by taking into account the principles such as the way the said lessons were taught, the order of the subjects and whether they went from easy to difficult.

The Simpsons, which refers to many fields of art, especially cinema, literature and music with its transitions and fiction, can be evaluated as a cultural phenomenon with its nearly thirty-year history, by mediating the redefinition of the concept of cartoons. The Simpsons cartoon series leads a real-life life in a fictional town in the USA, in terms of plot and location. For this reason, the American capitalist lifestyle is chosen as the general criticism, and socio-economic imbalances, production-consumption ideologies, the pressure and stereotyping policies of the state on the society are discussed in the general structure as a connotative subject of criticism. The characters in the series were created from different endpoints in order to increase the dynamism of the scenario and to make more effective references to every point of the society. This examines the topics covered in the series, from capitalism to obesity, from feminism to human rights. In this study, interpersonal communication in the Simpsons cartoon series as an interaction and communication medium is detailed in terms of meaning and signification, with semiotic analysis and examples selected from the episodes.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the contribution of vocational education to employment in Samsun. For this purpose, employers with at least 100 employees operating in the province have been interviewed. When the answers given by the employers to the interview forms prepared in scientific ways have been examined, it has been seen that vocational education has made significant progress in recent years. It has been observed that the business world has started to meet the qualified workforce it needs, especially with the dissemination of vocational training centers that have been implemented since 2020. Thanks to this application, both the workforce needed by the employers has been met and the newly employed workers have become more equipped.
It has been expressed by all employers that the incentives necessary for the protection of employment obtained by the expansion of vocational training centers should be continued. The employers agree that it would be appropriate to give incentives for the compensatory training of mastership for at least 1 year instead of 6 months. In addition, it has been stated by the employers that studies should be carried out to make vocational education centers and vocational and technical Anatolian high schools more preferable by students. In this way, it will be easier to meet the qualified workforce needed by the market. The workshops and laboratories of these schools, which are extremely important for the market, need to be technically developed and renewed. It has been stated that the equipment and machinery in the workshops are extremely old. It is not possible for students to be trained according to the qualifications of this age with the workshops and laboratories behind this age. Thanks to these changes to be done, every business will be able to find the workforce they need with the necessary qualifications easily.

Nowadays, digital technologies being effective in many production areas cause the acceleration of textile production and design processes. On the other hand, the acceleration of design and production processes increases the need for design education, where digitalization and digital technologies gain importance. In the study, on the one hand, areas related to surface creation, which are of great importance in terms of the textile industry and fashion design, are mentioned, on the other hand, it is emphasized that the designer should have knowledge and experience about the basic principles of fiber type, fabric finishing and printing techniques, and surface design. Because, product designs processed using printing, knitted or woven materials can only be possible with the correct application of textile design principles within a plan. While textile design often doesn't show up much under fashion design, fashion design's popularity wouldn't exist without creative textile surfaces. Therefore, in design processes where creativity is the subject, besides traditional drawing and painting techniques, a number of advantages provided by digitalization are used in design and production. In the study, a situation analysis of textile design and production processes is made from the perspective of the designer and the qualifications that the designer should have in the design and production processes where digital technologies are effective are discussed.

Diderot Effect As A Challange To Sustainable Consumption

The Diderot Effect is a destructive motivation that causes consumers to enter into an unstoppable consumption cycle starting with a single purchase. Diderot describes this cycle as a consumption spiral that begins with the desire to possess and leads to an irrational state that can ultimately limit the consumer's freedom. The effect appeals to status-seeking and hedonistic tendencies and can spread from the individual to the societal level, resulting in mass consumption that defies the reality of scarce resources. As a consequence, the Diderot Effect can give rise to unlimited consumption by the masses, in contrast to the reality of limited resources.
This effect, which highlights materialistic values, leads to behavioral outcomes that are completely opposite to sustainable consumption practices. However, the current era is a period in which natural resources are rapidly depleting, economic crises occur frequently, and deep gaps between the development levels of nations arise in parallel with income inequality. This destructive transformation, although attempted to be reversed with sustainability-focused practices, has not yet led to the desired attitude change. Thus, it has become more important to understand the other psychological and social dynamics that shape consumer behavior, as awareness, responsibility, and societal consciousness alone are not sufficient to adopt sustainable consumption habits. This study aims to examine the relationship between these two phenomena within the framework of marketing discipline.

In this study, the relationship between teachers’ organizational commitment to the schools where they work and their work engagement was examined. The research was designed according to the quantitative research method and the correlational survey model. The sample of the study consisted of 274 teachers working in public primary and secondary schools in Çanakkale city center in the first term of the 2022-2023 academic year. The “Organizational Commitment Scale” developed by Meyer, Allen, and Smith (1993) and adapted into Turkish by Dağlı, Elçiçek, and Han (2018) and the “Engaged Teacher Scale” developed by Klassen, Yerdelen, and Durksen (2013) and adapted into Turkish by Yerdelen, Durksen, and Klassen (2018) were used to collect data in the research. Analysis of the research data was carried out with SPSS v.21. After the analyses, it has been determined that the organizational commitment of the teachers is medium and their work engagement is at a high level. In addition, it has been determined that there is no significant relationship between teachers’ organizational commitment and emotional commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment levels, which are the dimensions of organizational commitment, and their work engagement. In this context, it is suggested that studies and practices should be carried out to increase the motivation of teachers in order to increase the organizational commitment of teachers and the levels of emotional commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment that constitute organizational commitment. In addition, it is recommended to carry out quantitative researches including different models by considering the interrelationships on organizational commitment and work engagement, and qualitative research in order to reveal more in-depth results about teachers’ organizational commitment.

The aim of this study is to have an active role in G-20 countries (USA, Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, France, South Africa, South Korea, India, England, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey). The aim of this study is to examine the validity of the market hypothesis by considering the non-normal distribution in the data set, non-linearity and structural breaks, unlike the literature. In this context, ADF, RALS-ADF, Fourier-ADF and Fourier-CSS unit root tests were used. According to the empirical findings of the tests applied, it has been concluded that the efficient market hypothesis is valid in all unit root tests applied to the stock market indices of Germany, Argentina, Australia, France, South Africa, South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, it has been concluded that China's stock market index follows a static process in all unit root tests, that is, the efficient market hypothesis is invalid. It has been observed that the results vary according to the method used for the USA, Brazil, Indonesia, India, England, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Russia and Turkey.

As long as human beings have been on earth, change and development have always been inevitable and experienced. Especially in the last century, this rapid change and development has been experienced in every field, but it has also reflected on the understanding of management and therefore on organizations. It is very difficult for organizations that do not renew themselves and are closed to development in today's world, which is globalizing and where borders have somehow been lifted. The fact that organizations can only survive and compete with human-centered management policies finds its place in today's world. It is obvious that the success of the organization in achieving the goals it has set as its own goals depends on the value of the human resources they have. For this reason, in our age, which is based on the human resources management approach by moving away from the traditional personnel management approach from the past to the present day, it has become important to find and eliminate the factors that cause negative organizational behaviors, while bringing organizational commitment to the fore, adding it to the organization and ensuring that it is present in the organization.
Studies show that high organizational commitment facilitates the process of ownership of the institution. In this respect, for an effective organizational commitment, it is important to know the reasons that decrease the organizational commitment of the administrators, the factors that affect the organizational commitment, the strategies and methods that will increase the organizational commitment. In this study, the factors affecting the organizational commitment of administrators working in basic education institutions were discussed and satisfactory answers were sought.

With this study, it was aimed to examine the joint leadership levels of physical education and sports teachers. The population of the research consists of 214 Physical Education teachers working in Isparta, and the sample group consists of 93 male and 24 female physical education teachers. Personal information form created by the researcher and Dilekçi's (2021) Shared Instructional Leadership Scale developed by Zhan et al. were used to obtain sociodemographic data. (2020) was used to determine leadership levels. The variance and homogeneity of the obtained data were tested and for the data determined to be not homogeneous; Mann Whitney U test was used for pairwise comparisons and Kruskal Wallis test was used for multiple comparisons. The significance level of p<0.05 was considered in the statistical analysis and interpretation of the data. The Cronbach Alpha value for the Shared Instructional Leadership Scale was determined as 0.91.
As a result, depending on the gender factor, it has been determined that men think that the shared instructional leadership levels of school principals are higher than women. According to marital status, professional experience and career status factors, no statistically significant difference was observed in the views of physical education and sports teachers and the shared instructional leadership levels of school principals. This situation is interpreted as physical education teachers are dissatisfied with organizational commitment, organizational working environment, hierarchical functioning, and psychological safety, and therefore they think that school principals cannot adopt shared instructional leadership roles.

The education system performs two different functions that ensure the socialization and individualization of the individual. While education aims to train the qualified workforce needed by the country, it provides individualization of students with the diploma it gives through schools. While the education system provides individuals with an advanced level of upbringing by increasing their existing knowledge and abilities, it differentiates them from each other at levels that largely condition their future social and professional status. For this reason, practitioners should make the education policies to be determined according to a certain plan while forming the economic foundations of education. For this reason, education planning can be shown as an important document that should be applied while creating the economic foundations of education.

With the development of technology, radical changes seen in almost all areas of life, while also being effective in the communication order, necessitate the current media ecology to be handled in the context of 'new media'. While media ecology focuses on communication tools and their effects on human life; The concept of new media ecology focuses on how digital technologies shape the media and human life, and focuses on the cognitive, social and cultural effects of technology. While the phenomenon of tabloidization has gained weight in the new media order, where ratings and circulation concerns come to the fore, media organizations have turned into institutions that make news for entertainment rather than information, and which have the mission of getting more advertisements for profit. Reaching the truth by experiencing what happened around her/him in the past, today she perceives the world with the 'facts' told to her by the media. In today's societies, where information is needed more than ever, social media platforms play a leading role in the new communication order, and this constitutes the basic characteristic of media ecology. Media ecology, which tries to explain how much we know the media, whether it is affected by the information bombardment, and the guiding effect of media messages on us; it tries to reveal the messages that are hidden in the media content and that we do not care about, and at this point it focuses on the importance of media literacy. Media literacy, which is called the ability to make sense of, analyze and convey messages in different forms, points to the development of the skills of producing their own messages by raising the awareness of individuals in the face of media contents whose ecology is gradually deteriorating. In the study, the concept of media ecology is emphasized and the changes in the current communication order are discussed theoretically in the context of new media ecology.
