Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Matematik Öğreniminde İnformal Öğrenme Ortamlarından Sosyal Medya Kullanımına İlişkin Görüşleri

Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı sınıf dışı informal öğrenme ortamlarından olan sosyal medya ve internet kullanımının ortaokul öğrencilerinin matematik dersine yönelik etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma 2023 – 2024 Eğitim Öğretim yılı 1.döneminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, Ankara da bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 8.sınıf öğrencileridir. Çalışma grubu 10 kız ve 10 erkek olmak üzere toplam 20 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplamak amacıyla; araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış odak grup görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, katılımcıların düşüncelerini inceleyebilmek amacıyla nitel veri analizinde kullanılan betimsel analiz ile çözümlenerek incelenmiştir. Araştırma bulgularından elde edilen sonuçlar neticesinde, öğrencilerin matematik öğrenimi için sosyal medyayı etkin bir biçimde kullandıkları görülmüştür. Öğrenciler, sosyal medyayı istedikleri zaman ders dinleme, soru çözme, farklı hocalardan konuyu dinleyip dersi pekiştirme, kısa ve pratik bilgilere ulaşma, daha eğlenceli zaman geçirme, liselere giriş sınavı (LGS) soru kalıplarını öğrenme, yazılı öncesi hızlı tekrar yapma gibi konularda avantajlı bulmuşlardır. Ayrıca Sosyal medyanın matematik dersine karşı olan motivasyonlarını olumlu etkilediği gözlemlenmiştir.

Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the effects of social media and internet use, which are informal learning environments outside the classroom, on the mathematics lesson of secondary school students. The research was carried out in the 1st semester of the 2022 – 2023 academic year. The study group of the research is 8th grade students studying in a public school in Ankara. The study group consists of 20 students, 10 girls and 10 boys. In order to collect data in the research; A semi-structured focus group interview form prepared by the researcher was used. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive analysis used in qualitative data analysis in order to examine the thoughts of the participants. As a result of the results obtained from the research findings, it was seen that the students use social media effectively for mathematics learning. Students found social media advantageous in terms of listening to lectures, solving questions, reinforcing the lesson by listening to the subject from different teachers, reaching short and practical information, having more fun, learning high school entrance exam (LGS) question patterns, and doing quick repetitions before writing. In addition, it has been observed that social media has a positive effect on their motivation towards the mathematics lesson
