Abstract
Toplumların çağdaşlaşması ve bilimsel gelişmelere rağmen, şiddet meselesi azalacağına sosyal yaşamda bugün halen şiddet konusu bir sorun oluşturmaktadır. Şiddet var oldukça sanatçının bu konuya duyarsız kalması kaçınılmazdır. Günlük yaşantı içinde insanlar arasındaki şiddet meselesi sanatçının ilgisini çekmiş ve eserinde konu ederek toplumsal bilinci geliştirmeyi amaçlamıştır. Günümüz sanat biçimlerinde şiddet konusunu ele aldığımızda sanatçının sıkça gündemini meşgul eden temel olgulardandır diyebiliriz. Çoğu sanatçı çocuğun uğradığı şiddetinde tanıklığını yapmaktadır. Çocuklar farklı şekillerde şiddete dolaylı ya da direkt maruz kalmaktadırlar. Fiziksel şiddetten tecavüze, tacize, yoksulluktan açlığa, eğitim sisteminin bozukluğundan aile içinde yaşanan şiddete vb. gibi. Avusturya’lı sanatçı Gottfried Helnwein’in sanatının metaforuna çocuk imgesi hakimdir. Fakat modern dünyamızın ortaya koyduğu klişeleşmiş çocuğun yerine, resimlerinde ki çocuk yaralı, sargılı, işkence görmüş ya da anlamsız bakan yüzler şeklinde tekrar eden motiflerdir. Sanatçının amacı, günümüz insanının en kötü yönlerini görsel ifadeyle izleyiciye göstermektir. Sanatçı eserlerinde savaşın travmasını ve utancını çocuk imgesi aracılığıyla yansıtarak bir ayna görevi görürken, toplumsal adaletsizliğin masum kurbanları olan çocuklara güçlü empatisini de ortaya koymaktadır.

Abstract
Despite the modernization of societies and scientific developments, the issue of violence is still a problem in social life today, instead of decreasing the issue of violence. As long as violence exists, it is inevitable for the artist to remain insensitive to this issue. The issue of violence between people in daily life attracted the attention of the artist and he aimed to develop social awareness by subjecting it to his work. When we consider the issue of violence in today's art forms, we can say that it is one of the basic facts that occupy the artist's agenda. Many artists also express violence against children is testifying. Children are directly or indirectly exposed to violence in different ways. From physical violence to rape, harassment, from poverty to hunger, from the disorder of the education system to domestic violence, etc. The metaphor of the Austrian artist Gottfried Helnwein's art is dominated by the image of a child. But instead of the stereotypical child revealed by our modern world, the child in his paintings are recurring motifs in the form of wounded, bandaged, tortured or meaningless faces. The aim of the artist is to show the worst aspects of today's people to the audience with visual expression. While the artist acts as a mirror by reflecting the trauma and shame of war through the image of a child in his works, he also reveals his strong empathy for children who are innocent victims of social injustice.
