Abstract
Mandala temelde “daire” ya da “tamamlama” anlamına gelen, çeşitli toplumlar tarafından farklı şekillerde anılmasına rağmen özünde tek bir merkezi çevreleyen bölümlerden oluşan ve bu bölümlerin birbirine benzemeyen şekillerde detaylandırılmasıyla ortaya çıkan geometrik biçimlerdir. Dairesel bir örüntü olan mandala, kutsalın, evrenin ve kozmik bilincin kusursuzluğu ile varoluşsal bütünlüğü göstermektedir. Sanatçılar tarafından da bu desen bilinçli ya da bilinçdışı yollarla sıklıkla kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada; köklü bir geçmişi olan mandala deseninin tarihsel süreçteki yorumlamaları incelenmiştir. Literatür tarama yöntemi kullanılan bu makalede, çağdaş sanatta mandala deseni arayışlarına yer verilerek örnek eserler felsefeyi ve biçimi ilgilendiren konular ışığında, bu sembolün anlamları çerçevesinde detaylandırılmıştır.

Abstract
Mandala is a geometric form that basically means "circle" or "completion", although it is referred to in different ways by various societies, it is essentially composed of parts surrounding a single center and these parts are detailed in dissimilar shapes. Mandala, which is a circular pattern, shows the perfection and existential integrity of the sacred, the universe and cosmic consciousness. This pattern has been frequently used by artists either consciously or unconsciously. In this study; the interpretations of the mandala pattern, with a deep history, in the historical process were examined. In this article, which uses the literature review method, the search for mandala patterns in contemporary art is included and the sample works are detailed in the light of the issues related to philosophy and form, within the framework of the meanings of this symbol.
