Abstract
Sosyolojinin öteden beri tarih ve siyasetle ilgisi vardır. Kültürel bir bilim olarak sosyoloji bu ikisine ilişkin gelişmelere hem şahit olmakta hem de onlarla etkileşimler kurmaktadır. Sosyolojinin siyasetle arasındaki alışverişler önemli bir tarihi gerçeklikken, söz konusu durum, bilimsel açıdan daha tartışılmalı durmaktadır. Bunun açık örneklerinden birine Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nda rastlanmaktadır. İmparatorluğun yakın tarihi ve siyaseti ile sosyolojisinin gelişimi, kurumsallaşması ve işlevleri arasında direkt bağlar bulunmaktadır.

Abstract
Sociology has been long associated with history and politics. Sociology as a cultural science both witnesses the developments of history and politics and interacts with them. While the relation between sociology with politics is an important historical reality, the situation remains scientifically controversial. One of the clear examples of this is encountered in the Ottoman Empire. There are close links between the late history and politics of the Ottoman Empire and the development, institutionalization and functions of sociology.
