Abstract
Vatanseverlik, toplumun değerleriyle barışık olma durumudur. Ülkesi ve milletinin mutluluğu için fedakârlık yapmak, ülkesinin kurum ve kuruluşlarını korumak ve geliştirmektir. Vatanseverlik değeri, ortaokulların her sınıf düzeyinde sosyal bilgiler dersinde işlenmektedir. Bu bakımdan vatanseverlik değerinin kazandırılmasında sosyal bilgiler dersinin önemi büyüktür. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin vatanseverlik değerine ilişkin tutumlarını betimlemektir. Ancak ülkemizin farklı coğrafi bölgelerinde vatanseverlik değerine ilişkin kazanımlar ve tutumlar arasında farklılaşma olup olmadığı merak konusudur. Bu amaçla ülkemizin farklı coğrafi bölgelerinden rastgele örnekleme yöntemiyle 1200 ortaokul öğrencisine “Vatanseverlik Tutum Ölçeği” uygulanmıştır. Veriler coğrafi bölge, sınıf grupları ve cinsiyet değişkenine göre SPSS 18 Statistic paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda vatanseverlik tutumlarının cinsiyete, coğrafi bölgelere ve sınıf düzeylerine göre anlamlı bir farklılaşmanın olmadığı saptanmıştır. Bu sonuçlar ulusal bütünleşme açısından işlevseldir. Aynı zamanda sosyal bilgiler dersinde işlenen vatanseverlik eğitiminin başarısı açısından da olumlu bulunmuştur.

Abstract
Patriotism requires peace with the values of society. It also requires sacrificing for the happiness of his nation and his country, protecting and developing the institutions and organizations of the country. These values are gained in Social Science lessons at all grades of secondary schools. For this reason, the importance of Social Studies Lesson is so great in teaching the value of patriotism to all citizens. So this study aims to determine the of secondary school students’ attitudes towards the value of patriotism. It is not clear whether there is a differentiation between the achievements and attitudes regarding the value of patriotism in different geographical regions of our country. This study aims to clarify this uncertainty. For this aim, “Patriotism Attitude Scale” was applied to 1200 secondary school students in different geographical regions of the country by random sampling method. Data were analyzed according to the variables of geographical region, students’ grade levels and gender. SPSS 18 Statistic package program was used for the data analysis. Results show that there are no significant differences in patriotic attitudes of students according to their gender, geographical regions and grade levels. These results are positive in terms of national integration. The results can also be considered positivein terms of the success of the patriotic education taught in the Social Studies Lessons.
