8. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Cebirsel İfadeler ve Özdeşlikler Kavramlarına İlişkin Bilişsel Yapılarının ve Öğrenme Güçlüklerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract
Bu araştırma; 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin “Cebirsel ifadeler” ve ‘’Özdeşlikler’’ kavramlarına ilişkin bilişsel yapılarının ve öğrenme güçlüklerinin incelenmesi amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma modelinde hazırlanmış olup olgubilim (fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ankara ilinin Kahramankazan ilçesinde yer alan 4 ortaokulda öğrenim gören 8. sınıf öğrencilerinden 125’i oluşturmuştur. Katılımcıların belirlenmesinde amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların “Cebirsel İfadeler” ve ‘’Özdeşlikler’’ konularındaki kavramsal yapılarıyla ilgili detaylı veri toplanması amacıyla bağımsız kelime ilişkilendirme testi kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerden verdikleri cevap kelimelerle ilgili bir cümle kurmaları istenmiştir. Son bölümde öğrencilerden “Cebirsel İfadeler” ve “Özdeşlikler” konularını öğrenirken karşılaştıkları öğrenme güçlüklerini açıklamaları istenmiştir. 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin “Cebirsel İfadeler” ve ‘’Özdeşlikler’’ kavramlarına ilişkin bilişsel yapılarının nasıl olduğunun belirlenmesi için kullanılan bağımsız kelime ilişkilendirme testine verdikleri cevaplar içerik analizi yöntemiyle, “Cebirsel ifadeler” ve ‘’Özdeşlikler’’ kavramlarıyla ilgili çağrışım yapan kelimelerin yazımının ardından bu kelimelerle kurulan cümlelerde yer alan kavram yanılgıları içerik analizi yöntemiyle ve Cebirsel İfadeler ve Özdeşlikler konularının öğrenilmesinde karşılaşılan güçlükler betimsel analiz yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda “Cebirsel İfadeler” kavramına ilişkin 13 kategori ve 151 kod ve ‘’Özdeşlikler’’ kavramına ilişkin 14 kategori ve 165 kod belirlenmiştir.“Cebirsel İfadeler” ve “Özdeşlikler” kavramlarına ilişkin öğrencilerin bilişsel yapılarına ait sonuçlar incelendiğinde; 9 kategorinin “Cebirsel İfadeler” ve ‘‘Özdeşlikler’’ kavramları için ortak olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu durum öğrencilerin bilişsel yapılarında bu kavramlarla ilgili bağlantıların oluştuğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca 8. sınıf öğrencilerinden %79’unun Cebirsel İfadeler konusunu ve %75’inin Özdeşlikler konusunu öğrenirken problem yaşadıklarını ifade ettikleri belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen bulgular ışığında öğretmenlerin konuyu işlerken nasıl bir yöntem kullanmaları gerektiği ve araştırmacılara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Abstract
In this research, it was aimed to delve into the cognitive structures and learning difficulties of 8th grade students regarding the concepts of "Algebraic expressions" and "Identities". Qualitative research model was preferred as the research model and in this context, phenomenology pattern was used. The study group of the research subsists 125 students of 8th grade studying in 4 secondary schools in Kahramankazan district of Ankara province in the 2021-2022 academic year. Criterion sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the students. As it was aimed at collecting detailed data on the participants' conceptual structures regarding the concepts of "Algebraic Expressions" and "Identities", the free word association test was used. Furthermore, students were asked to make a sentence with those words in their answers. Finally, they were asked to describe the learning difficulties they encountered while learning the topics "Algebraic Expressions" and "Identities". The answers given by 8th grade students to the independent word association test used to determine their cognitive structures regarding the concepts of "Algebraic Expressions" and "Identities" were analyzed by content analysis method, after writing the evocative words related to the concepts of "Algebraic Expressions" and "Identities". The misconceptions in the sentences formed with these words were examined by the content analysis method, and the difficulties encountered in learning the subjects of Algebraic Expressions and Identities were examined by the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the analysis of the data, 13 categories and 151 codes related to the concept of "Algebraic Expressions" and 14 categories, and 165 codes related to the concept of "Identities" were determined. When the results of the students' cognitive structures regarding the concepts of " Algebraic Expressions" and "Identities" are examined; It has been determined that 9 categories are common to the concepts of "Algebraic Expressions" and "Identities". This shows that connections related to these concepts are formed in the students' cognitive structures. It was also determined that 79% of 8th grade students stated that they had problems while learning the subject of Algebraic Expressions- and 75% of them while learning the subject of Identities. Based on the findings obtained at the end of this research, suggestions were made for teachers and researchers, what method to use while teaching these topics.
