Summary Recently, the phenomenon of Born Globals has been emphasized in many articles on the internationalization processes of firms. Such firms adopt an international or even global approach from the moment they are born or a very short time later. Some authors see this phenomenon as a strong contrast to traditional models of internationalization. Of course, this is true if one considers the manifestations of models, namely the model of stages that the firm must internationalize like “rings in the water”, that is, it must be phased out geographically slowly and gradually. markets, market entry mode and product policy. This article contributes to the field in three ways: it summarizes the empirical evidence reported on Born Globals; interprets the phenomenon at a deeper theoretical level and provides a new understanding of the research topic; and makes suggestions about the antecedents as well as the necessary and sufficient conditions for the rise of the phenomenon. In doing so, the conclusion is that Born Globals has grown in line with evolutionary thinking (Madsen et al., 1997).
