Abstract
Tarih öncesi dönemlerden itibaren farklı kültür bölgelerinde yaşayan çeşitli toplumların dinsel inanışlarının şekillenmesinde hayatın ve ölümün çok büyük bir etkisi olduğu bilinmektedir. Doğada ortaya çıkan birtakım anlaşılması güç olaylar, güçler ya da varlıklar, insanları manevi düşüncelere sevk etmiştir. Tabiatta ortaya çıkan olayların insanları kimi zaman korkuttuğu, kimi zaman da insanların hayranlığını kazandığı anlaşılmakla birlikte bunun neticesinde ise tanrı ve öbür dünya kavramı ortaya çıkmıştır. Eski Mezopotamya toplumlarının dinsel anlayış sistemleri hakkındaki bilgilere, arkeolojik ve filolojik çalışmalar sayesinde ulaşmak mümkündür. Eski Mezopotamya toplumlarında, çok tanrılı bir dinsel anlayış sisteminin egemen olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Söz konusu anlayış sistemi içerisinde, tanrılarla ilişkili doğa üstü varlıklar da dikkat çekmektedir. Eski Mezopotamya sanatında, tanrı ve tanrıça tasvirlerine çeşitli tasvirli eserler üzerinde rastlamak mümkündür. Söz konusu tasvirler ise, mitolojik ve dinsel içerikli sahnelerde karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Eski Mezopotamya sanatında, tanrı ve tanrıça tasvirlerine, libasyon sahneleri, tanrı huzuruna kabul sahneleri ve tanrılara sunu sahnelerinde rastlamak mümkündür. Çalışma kapsamında, Eski Mezopotamya toplumları açısından önemli bir yere sahip olan tanrı ve tanrıça kavramları hakkında genel bir değerlendirme yapılacaktır. Söz konusu çalışma kapsamında, Eski Mezopotamya sanatında betimlenen tanrı ve tanrıça tasvirleri, ikonografik özellikleri, karakteristik özellikleri ve işlevleri dikkate alınarak değerlendirilmeye çalışılacaktır. Bununla birlikte, Eski Mezopotamya dinsel inanışlarının, Anadolu ve Anadolu dışındaki farklı kültürler üzerindeki etkileri hakkında da değerlendirme yapılmaya çalışılacaktır.

Abstract
Since ancient times, it has been known that life and death have had great effect on the formation of religious beliefs of various communities living in different cultural regions. Some difficult to understand events, powers or creatures emerging in the nature have directed people to some spiritual thoughts. It is understood that some of these natural events have sometimes frightened people, while they have sometimes provided people with admiration; therefore, these events have led to the concepts of God and hereafter. It is possible to reach the information about religious understanding systems of old Mesopotamian communities thanks to archaeological and philological investigations. It is understood that a polytheistic religious understanding was dominant in Old Mesopotamian communities. In the above-mentioned understanding system, supernatural creatures have attracted attention together with gods. In old Mesopotamian art, it is possible to encounter to god and goddess descriptions on several depicted works. The before-mentioned depictions confront us in the mythological and religious scenes. It is possible to come across with in oblation scenes and scene where the one is accepted to the presence of god and scenes of libations in god and goddess depictions in old Mesopotamian art. Within the context of the study, a general assessment about god and goddess concepts occupying an important place in terms of Old Mesopotamian cultures will be conducted. Within the framework of the aforementioned study, god and goddess depictions described in Old Mesopotamian art will be assessed considering, their iconographic properties and functions. In addition, an evaluation about the effects of Old Mesopotamian religious beliefs on Anatolian and various cultures apart from Anatolian cultures will be tried to be conducted.
