Abstract

Bu araştırma sigara bırakma polikliniğine başvuran hastaların sigara fiyatları hakkındaki görüşlerinin davranışsal ekonomi bakış açısıyla incelenmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada “fenomenolojik araştırma” yöntemi kullanılarak hastaların sigara fiyatları hakkındaki görüşlerini ve tüketimlerini etkileyen fiyatın etkisi, nakitin etkisi, ödeme istekliliği ve bedava etkisi fenomenlerine değinilmiştir. Görüşmelerde bu fenomenleri temel alan soruları içeren yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme kılavuzu kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda sigaraya zam gelmesinin sigara tüketimlerini her zaman azaltmayacağı, sigaranın kredi kartı ile daha kolay alındığı ve daha fazla stoklandığı, sigara alırken nakit ödemeyi tercih edenlerin genelde kredi kartını hiç kullanmadığı, sigara bırakma ilaçlarının ücretsiz olmasının tedaviye başvuruyu olumlu etkilediği, sigara bırakma ilaçlarının ücretli olması durumunda hastaların yine de tedaviye başvuracağı tespit edilmiştir. Hastaların sigara bırakma ilaçlarına en fazla ödemeye istekli olacakları ücretler sorgulandığında hastaların bir defaya mahsus ücret ödemeye istekli olanlar, sadece belli bir süreliğine ücret ödemeye istekli olanlar, aylık sigara masrafı kadar ücreti bırakana kadar her ay ödemeye istekli olanlar, bıraktırma oranına göre ücret ödemeye istekli olanlar, fark etmez diyenler ve ücret ödemeye istekli olmayanlar şeklinde farklılaştığı tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract

This study was carried out to examine the opinions of patients who applied to the smoking cessation outpatient clinic about cigarette prices from a behavioral economic perspective. In the study, using the “phenomenological research” method, the phenomena of price effect, the cashless effect, willingness to pay and zero price effect, which affect the opinions of patients about cigarette prices and their consumption, were mentioned.A semi-structured interview guide including questions based on these phenomena was used in the interviews. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the increase in cigarette prices will not always reduce cigarette consumption, cigarettes are bought more easily with a credit card and stored more, and those who prefer to pay in cash when buying cigarettes generally do not use their credit card at all. It has also been determined that the free smoking cessation drugs have a positive effect on the application for treatment however patients will still apply for treatment if smoking cessation drugs are paid. When the fees that patients will be willing to pay the most for smoking cessation drugs are questioned, it was determined they differed in the form of those who are willing to pay a one-time fee, those who are willing to pay only for a certain period of time, those who are willing to pay as much as the monthly cost of cigarettes every month until they quit, those who are willing to pay according to the quit rate, those who say it doesn't matter, and those who are not willing to pay.
