Abstract

Abstract

Single parenthood family is that a family consisting of a child or children who are not married due to death, divorce or separation. In families where the mother is the only parent, the mother who is solely responsible for the upbringing of the child is faced with various psychological, emotional and physical needs, and at the same time she has to meet the needs of the child alone. While single parents face more psychological, emotional and physical needs, they also have to meet the needs of the child alone. This double role leads to a mother working as a single parent facing social and psychological problems. The aim of this study is to propose solutions by addressing the problems experienced by single mothers. Consequently, single-parent mothers need social, emotional and financial support. Individual or group psychological counseling, special education support for single-parent mothers to be mentally empowered will have positive effects on their personal health, mother-child relations and fulfillment of motherhood's psychosocial functions. All these support activities are investments to be made in the welfare of children and society as well as single parents, and this issue is of great importance in this regard.
